da betobet: According to reports in The Sun on Sunday, West Ham United manager David Moyes is ready to launch a £15m January bid for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter.
What’s the word, then?
da bwin: Well, The Sun on Sunday says that Moyes wants to bring in new faces to the club in the New Year despite the upturn in their form, and he ideally wants players with Premier League experience.
The Sun on Sunday says that the Scottish boss is a big fan of the Republic of Ireland international, and he believes he would add some muscle to their midfield and potentially be the long-term replacement for Mark Noble as the club’s ‘poster boy’ considering he was born in Sidcup.
However, the report adds even though Arter has struggled to get into the Bournemouth team in recent weeks, they are unlikely to want to sell the 27-year-old to a direct rival unless the player really pushes for a move.
How has Arter done this season?
While the midfielder started Bournemouth’s opening five Premier League matches of the season, he has only been named in the XI for five of their last 12 top flight fixtures after falling out of favour under Eddie Howe.
The 40-year-old boss hinted that Arter had been hit hard by the Republic of Ireland’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup following their heavy play-off defeat to Denmark, which points to why he may have been left out.
That said, he did play the full 90 against Manchester United at Old Trafford during the week, and perhaps may be back in contention for a regular spot in the middle of the park over the busy festive period.
Would he be a good signing for West Ham?
He certainly would be.
Arter would add some bite in midfield that the Irons perhaps lacked at times earlier in the season, and his ability to battle and his effort on the pitch will mean the London Stadium faithful will quickly get behind him.
According to WhoScored.com prior to the Liverpool game, the 27-year-old has won 18 tackles and made nine interceptions and four blocks in 11 Premier League outings this term, while he is good on the ball too and has a passing accuracy of 87.4%.
