da premier bet： Several clubs have broken transfer records this window spending well over £700million, a number that you can expect to continue rising until that 6pm deadline on Tuesday evening.
Every year you get a number of transfer sagas that drag on for weeks and weeks, to the frustration of teams, fans and the media alike. And this season has been no different.
There have been a several rumoured deals that seem to have been around since the end of last season.
Here are four of the most annoying saga’s we will be glad to see the back of…
David De Gea – Man United to Real Madrid
This deal has to be one of the most confusing deals of the window. There have been that many twists and turns that I doubt anybody involved actually knows what is going to happen.
There was speculation of the move before last season had even ended, and it has continued throughout the summer.
The issue between the sides is the fee. United have been holding out for £30million, but Real remain adamant they will not pay anywhere near that figure when they can sign De Gea on a free next summer.
The Spaniard has not been involved yet this season, and more interestingly has been kept well away from the side’s Champions league squad, meaning the deal could still happen in the coming days.
Judging by current first choice Sergio Romero’s performance against Swansea, United need to ensure they keep hold of the Spain international.
Fabio Borini – Liverpool to Anywhere
Although it is certainly not one of the most high profile transfers of the summer, Liverpool fans are certainly frustrated with the ongoing speculation surrounding the Italian forward.
Borini has failed to make any kind of impact during his time at Anfield and manager Brendan Rodgers has been working on finding a new club for the player, but he just cant get the deal over the line.
The striker seems to be reluctanct to leave the Reds and whilst it is admirable that he wants to stay and fight for his place, sometimes you just have to cut your losses and admit defeat. This is one of those times.
So far this summer the player has reportedly been close to moves to a ridiculous amount of sides including Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Sunderland, West Ham, Watford and even Spurs.
Reds fans worldwide will be praying that a deal to get the misfit off the wage bill can be pushed through before the deadline.
Karim Benzema – Real Madrid to Arsenal
You know the transfer window is open when Arsenal get linked with another big money move for Karim Benzema.
Without fail the deal has been rumoured to be close for each of the last three seasons.
Clearly Wenger has doubts over his strike force, with the Frenchman seemingly never completely happy with the performances of Olivier Giroud.
However, he just doesn’t seem to be willing to actively pursue a deal for a new striker.
Whilst Benzema would be a wonderful fit for the Gunners, you just cannot see a deal happening any time soon. The France international is a regular starter for Real Madrid, a team that are in the top three best sides in the world.
Why would he want to take a step backwards?
Wenger does need to strengthen the side, but he may wish to move for more attainable targets.
Paul Pogba – Juventus to Chelsea/Man CIty
Similar to the Benzema speculation, this deal continuously rears its ugly head during the transfer window.
Pogba is one of the best young midfielders in Europe and has gone from strength to strength since he left Manchester United.
Most recent talk surrounding the player has been of a £72million move to Chelsea. You just can’t see it happening, though. Firstly Chelsea won’t pay that much for one player and, secondly, they already have a wealth of talent in midfield.
The most frustrating part of the deal is no matter how many times the deal is played down, whether it be by Juventus, Chelsea, the agent or even Pogba himself, the rumours never go away.
Whilst we all hope to the see the player’s talents showcased in the Premier League, nothing will be happening in the foreseeable future.
