Amad's withdrawal adds to United's growing list of players who have pulled out of international duty as the winger became the fourth United player to pull out. He joins Noussair Mazraoui, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo, who have all dealt with various fitness concerns. Garnacho and Mainoo have been nursing long-standing injuries, while summer signing Mazraoui had to exit United's goalless draw against Aston Villa at half-time last weekend. Harry Maguire is also facing time on the sidelines after picking up an injury during the same match against Villa.

Amad made notable contributions in recent victories against Zambia and Chad during the September international window and his absence will be a difficult void to fill for manager, Emerse Fae. However, they lead Group F of the qualifiers with six points from the two matches.
