da fezbet: Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has been cleared of any further punishment by the FA, despite calls from Sir Alex Ferguson that he should have been sent off in the clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
The England left-back has been the subject of the Scottish coach’s anger, after he injured Reds striker Javier Hernandez in United’s 3-1 win over the Stamford Bridge outfit at Old Trafford.
With the Mexican forward closing in to score, Cole jumped in recklessly and caught Chicharito on the shins, resulting in the attacker having to be stretchered off, and now facing time on the sidelines.
Despite this, because Cole was booked at the time of the incident by referee Phil Dowd no further action will be taken, as the FA deems that the official has dealt with the offence.
Dowd has yet to file his report following the game, and it unclear how much of the incident he saw, but for now Cole looks to have escaped any further punishment.
