da dobrowin: Following their rather unexpected second placed finish last season, Arsenal go into pre-season with a little more pressure on their shoulders to either match that result or go one further and be champions next time round.
da roleta: And with that pressure comes the need to add fresh faces to an Arsenal squad that at some points last season was looking a little exhaustive.
They swanned into second largely thanks to Spurs late-season car-crash and it was clear that at some points during last season’s campaign they were struggling for creativity and were leaking a few too many goals.
So with that in mind, who should Arsene be thinking about adding to his squad this summer?
Alexandre Lacazette has been hotly linked with the Gunners after any potential West Ham interest waned, so with that in mind, here are FIVE names who could follow the Frenchman to the Emirates…
Lucas Moura
He has been around for a while now and everyone knows what this Brazilian is all about. Lucas Moura is all about pace, trickery and lethal delivery from dead-ball situations.
The Brazilian has been one of PSG’s most important players for a handful of years now and it is a little surprising that one of Europe’s biggest sides hasn’t come in for him already.
Gonzalo Higuain
Gonzalo Higuain was easily one of the best strikers in the world last season after he dispatched a mammoth 38 times for Napoli in a single campaign. His goals helped his side to a second placed Serie A finish and they were pretty close to pushing Juventus all the way.
A player of Higuain’s calibre could be decisive for Arsenal in winning the Premier League next season. He really would bring that bit of class that could partner the likes of Alexis Sanchez upfront.
Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng
This man needs very little introduction and a little like Lucas Moura, it’s a tad surprising that Aubamayeng hasn’t moved on in the last couple of seasons, especially seeing the mini-exodus Borussia Dortmund have suffered of late.
He’s a goal machine, is frighteningly quick and would compliment the most deadly of attacking forces. Aubamayeng and Sanchez upfront? Gunners fans would be in dreamland….
Raffael
Another Bundesliga star that his risen to prominence over the past year or two, Raffael has grabbed headline after headline for his most recent club Borussia Monchengladbach.
He is known for his spectacular goals and brilliant trickery and he is extremely well regarded out in Germany.
Whilst he isn’t a prolific striker who will bag you 30 goals a season, he is something different and might be better suited to a central role playing behind the striker.
Giacomo Bonaventura
This hard-working midfielder has only been at most recent club AC Milan for a couple of years having made the move from Atalanta in 2014 but he has performed well at the San Siro.
Again, he might not be the sort of player to set the world on fire but he is extremely flexible, and has played everywhere from left-back to left-wing to attacking midfield.
A naturally left-footed player, he has also competent from dead-ball situations. A good all-round option.
