Manchester United veteran Paul Scholes was pleased with his side's opening Premier League 3-0 win over Newcastle United on Monday evening.
The diminutive midfielder put in an exceptional performance at Old Trafford as he set up two of the Red Devils' goals.
He teed up Dimitar Berbatov to fire them into the lead, before Darren Fletcher slotted home from close range.
With time running out, Scholes picked out the evergreen Ryan Giggs to volley past Magpies goalkeeper Steve Harper to add gloss to the triumph.
"The most important thing is to win the game," Scholes told Sky Sports."Maybe we could have scored more, but we'll take a 3-0 win on the first day of the season.
"Newcastle came, set their stall out and defended deep. Once we got the goal we were a constant threat.
"A lot of teams come here and try to make it difficult. We just had to tire them out as much as we could.
"Second half especially, I really enjoyed that – creating chances, looking like we were going to score whenever we went forward."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
