The true Alfredo Morelos has seemingly yet to surface in 2020 following a run of seven SPFL games without a goal.
For a player of his standing in Scottish football that is a rather alarming drought, but even the best players are entitled to below par spells.
Despite his struggle to pick up where he left off in 2019, the 23-year-old forward’s progress has been recognised by Transfermarkt.
The popular football website recently updated their valuations of a whole host of players around the world, and Morelos received the biggest market boost of his career so far.
His value, which stood at just £1.58m in March 2018, doubled from £6.75m to £13.5m, taking him into the world’s top 100 most valuable strikers in the process. It must be considered that the Colombia international would almost certainly command a fee in excess of his current valuation, but the £13.5m figure is relative to a marketplace which generally low-balls.
Joining him on £13.5m is Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheancho, formerly of Manchester City, while the devilish Diego Costa commands a £16.2m valuation.
All in, Morelos’ valuation has risen £11.92m since March 2018 and there have been some notable landmarks contributing to that.
Here, Football FanCast take a look at three of his biggest achievements.
18/19 SPFL top scorer
The Gers may have been powerless to prevent Celtic from lifting their eighth straight SPFL title in the 2018/19 season, but there was still a small victory on the blue half of Glasgow.
A return of 17 goals from 27 appearances was enough to put Morelos at the top of the pile, with Sam Cosgrove finishing a close second with 16 goals in 30 games for Aberdeen.
Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard, meanwhile, could only muster up 14 in 28 games.
It was a stunning season for the former HJK Helsinki star and one that caught attention of those beyond Scotland’s borders.

First Colombia goal
Morelos made his first appearance for his national side in September 2018 but it wasn’t until November 16th 2019 that he managed to bag his first goal.
On his fifth outing for Colombia in a friendly match against Peru, he scored one of the scrappier goals of his career deep into injury time, stabbing the ball home from a few yards out after the keeper had initially made a point blank save.
He has turned out just once for the South American nation since but, given his prolific record at Rangers, more goals are surely on the horizon.
6 in 6 Europa League group stage games
Rangers have progressed into the last-sixteen of the 2019/20 Europa League campaign and face Bayer Leverkusen for a chance to reach the quarter-finals, though a 3-1 first leg defeat at Ibrox looks likely to seal their fate in the competition.
Steven Gerrard’s men lost just once in the group stage, winning twice and scoring eight goals in the process.
Quite incredibly, Morelos scored six of those goals, which made him the joint top scorer prior to the last 16.
