da marjack bet: According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have turned down the chance to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez this summer but are keen on his Foxes teammate Demarai Gray, who has a release clause of £22m.
da bet esporte: Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be looking to sign a wide player this summer with Moussa Sissoko failing to impress at White Hart Lane following his £30m move from Newcastle United last year.
He is said to be a long-term admirer of Gray, even though the 20-year-old has struggled to become a regular in the starting line-up after moving to the King Power Stadium from Championship outfit Birmingham City during the 2016 January transfer window.
Even though he made 30 Premier League appearances last season, the majority of those came from the substitutes’ bench and that will certainly have Pochettino questioning whether he is worth the fee that Leicester want.
However, equally he could prove to be an inspired purchase.
Here are three reasons Tottenham should pay Gray’s £22m release clause…
Pochettino can improve him
While Dele Alli is obviously a very special player, no Tottenham supporter would have expected him to have the impact he has had on the side so quickly, and perhaps that is down to the trust shown and the platform for him to perform on by Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine isn’t afraid to give young players an opportunity if he feels they are good enough, and that philosophy could lead to Gray getting more game time – and success – if he moved to Spurs this summer.
He could make an instant impact
While Gray probably wouldn’t make the starting line-up for Tottenham’s biggest games in the season – barring injuries to other players – there is no doubt that he could have an impact when Spurs are facing sides in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
The 20-year-old has already shown glimpses of brilliance during his time with Leicester, and with another congested fixture list for Spurs next term with the Champions League group stages, the winger could be utilised in the league in order to give the likes of Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min a breather.
His potential
While Pochettino and Tottenham may feel that Gray isn’t worth £22m right now, the way transfer fees are rising so significantly in recent times, it could prove to be a bargain.
At 20 years of age and with some of the moments he has already created in his young career – the winger scored a stunning long-range goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford last season – he certainly has shown signs that he can go on to become a top player at this level.
